Achilles & Back-of-Heel Pain

Skates and stiff heel counters rub the back of the heel. Over time that can form a painful bump (often called a Bauer bump, pump bump or Haglund’s deformity). The Bunga Achilles’ Healpad puts gel right where the boot rubs.

Keep skating and stay in the game. Keeping Athletes in the Game™ since 1994.

What causes it

  • A stiff heel counter in skates or shoes
  • Heel slipping up and down inside the boot
  • Growing feet in youth hockey and figure skating
  • Long practices and games

How Bunga Pads help

The Achilles’ Healpad is a gel-lined sleeve with cushioning over the back of the heel and Achilles area. It reduces rubbing and spreads pressure inside tight skates.

Tips for the best fit

  • Make sure skates are laced snugly so the heel doesn’t slip.
  • Wear the healpad against the skin with the gel over the bump.
  • See a professional if a bump is red, swollen or very painful.
Not sure which pad or size you need? Tell us your sport, shoe size and where it hurts, and we will help you choose.
